The Cup Returns to America! BMW/Oracle wins the 33rd America's Cup

Winning the second of three scheduled races, BMW/Oracle swept 2-0 win over Alinghi. Racing in the most unusual America's Cup since Dennis Connor's infamous catamaran defense of the Cup, these two boats push the newest sailing designs to the limits. Sailing in excess of 33 knots, the BMW/Oracle illustrated the advantage of hard sail technology (which easily bested Alinghi's fabric sails). Putting an end, at least temporarily to ten years of political feuding between the two teams, two of which were spent in the New York Supreme Court. This race will unquestionably lead to advances in sailboat technology and design that will work its way into modern raceboats.

Congrats BMW/Oracle
